Planning Your Wedding Food Service

Food is becoming an increasingly important part of any wedding reception. Let’s face it, there are people out there who will judge your wedding by the quality of the food you serve, whether they should or not. The good news is that there are so many options when it comes to serving great food to your wedding guests. You are no longer confined by tradition to a sit down, plated meal consisting of gourmet dishes if that is not what you are looking for.

These days farmer’s markets have become a big deal. Many restaurants now work with local farmers markets to get their produce, dairy products and more. You can choose to have your wedding catered by a restaurant that does get their ingredients from farmer’s markets. Not only will this make it more likely the ingredients used in your wedding dishes will be fresh you will also be helping to give back to the community by supporting the agriculture in your area. When you serve farmer’s market meals at your wedding you can capture the mood using wildflowers in mason jars to serve as centerpieces and/or wedding favors and by choosing rustic décor for your reception.

It’s becoming increasingly common these days to turn your wedding reception into a “serve yourself” kind of event. Self-serve stations can be used for the dinner itself or to provide your guests with something of an interactive dessert bar. It’s a great way to give your guests the opportunity to create their own ice cream sundae or banana split. You can even use it to allow guests to prepare their own wedding favors. One way to do this is to offer different types of popcorn or candy that your guests can mix together to take home.

Even wedding cakes are undergoing a makeover for 2015. This trend started in 2014 and will continue into next year’s weddings. Wedding cakes are becoming more detailed as many brides are choosing to take an aspect of their dress, like diamonds or lace and recreate the look and feel of the materials on their cake. You could instead choose to tie your wedding cake in with your invitations or even with the décor you have chosen for your special day.

Wedding refreshments are about more than just food; the drinks you serve your guests are just as important. Sticking to the old standby drinks is yesterday’s news. Today’s brides and grooms are having signature drinks created for themselves. The drinks created just for you and your groom should in some way reflect something about your relationship. For example, if you two met at a coffee shop, have a drink created for your wedding that uses coffee flavored liquor. The possibilities for creating unique drinks are limitless. Some brides are even choosing to have mixed drinks served that are the color of their bridesmaids’ dresses.

Tip On How To Combat Wedding Nerves

As the closer your wedding day gets, so do the wedding day jitters. Some girls are so nervous about their big day and everything being perfect that they make themselves break out in hives or some kind of rash! Obviously, this only freaks them out more and intensifies the situation, but it doesn’t have to get that far. It’s totally normal to get nervous before your wedding day, but the important this is not to let your anxiousness interfere with you life, especially on the days leading up to the big day.

According to a survey done by a site called Fearcourse.com, about 71% of brides-to-be will get nervous anticipating their wedding day. That goes up to 92% of brides totally freaking out the day of their wedding or the night before, while 66% said that all that anxiousness really hindered their ability to enjoy the day. Don’t let this happen to you! Here are some tips on how to combat your wedding nerves.

1. Practice breathing techniques

If you’ve been super nervous to the point where you think you might have a panic attack, learn to a few breathing techniques so that you calm yourself down. If you take yoga classes, you most likely already know these breathing techniques and now’s the perfect time to use them. By taking in deep, long breathes, you’ll be able to shake off nerves and calm yourself down so that you don’t get so worked up.

2. Be confident

If you’re worried or stressed about something going wrong at your wedding, you’ll probably work yourself up even more. So instead of stressing over something you have no control over, be positive and confident instead. Think positive thoughts about how beautiful you wedding will be and how everything will go exactly as planned an you’ll automatically feel much calmer and at peace. To help you be more confident in your big day, visualize it in your head. Make sure you see yourself happy and calm and you’ll believe that everything will be okay in a matter of moments.

3. Get a massage the day before

To help you calm down even more, book a massage with your bridesmaids the day before and you’ll feel all that tension melt away. It’s also a great bridesmaid gift for your best girls!

4. Go for a walk the morning of your wedding

You’re most likely not going to be able to sleep that night so you’ll probably be up super early anticipating the day ahead. Before everything starts to happen, go for a brisk walk in the morning so that you collect your thoughts and feel at ease. You’ll feel calmer and ready to face the most wonderful day in your life when you get back!

New Wedding Trends For Environmentalists

Planning a wedding doesn’t have to get in the way of being an environmentalist. There are some new trends for 2015 that are environmentally friendly but don’t require you to sacrifice any aspect of your wedding day.

Boho glam is the new theme for weddings in 2015. A Boho glam wedding involves locally cut wildflowers in your bouquets and on your guest tables. It lets you get away with wearing colorful feathers in your hair without the need for any other accessories.  Though if you do want other hair accessories flower halos or headbands are also a good choice. You can even have a wedding crown made of dried flowers, some of which give off a scent you and your guests will love. You also have a great excuse to avoid wearing makeup that was tested on animals by choosing wedding makeup that is environmentally friendly.

While we all want to treat our guests to some sweet and sugary desserts at our wedding there is an environmentally friendly alternative to offering a dessert bar. Oversized treats such as large lollipops made from natural ingredients and organic cookies with or without organic frosting are better for both the environment and your wedding guests.

decor

If you love being outside but would rather hold your wedding inside it’s perfectly okay to include outdoor décor in your indoor wedding. You can always line the aisle with branches and dress your wedding reception up by stringing up lights around the dance floor. The lights can be made using real flowers in order to bring a little bit of the outside world inside. The tables can be decorated using plants and moss.

Simply doing your part to preserve the environment might not be enough to satisfy you so if you want to give back even more, consider having a wedding for a cause. You can do this by informing your guests that the gifts they purchase off of your wedding registry will go to the charity of your choice. Other choices include asking your guests to simply take the money they would have spent on your wedding present and donate it to charity instead. If you have one near and dear to your heart you can ask your guests to support that particular charity or you can encourage each guest to choose the charity they prefer.

A lot of couples in 2015 will be continuing to give back by incorporating some volunteer work into their honeymoon. You can easily do this without sacrificing the majority of your honeymoon in order to help others. It might even be the case that performing volunteer work on your honeymoon will bring you and your new spouse even closer together while helping out those who need it.

In the coming years weddings will likely become about more than just the couples getting married. Best For Bride is a great source for anyone who wants to plan a wedding that involves giving back to the world.

Things To Consider Before Planning A Winter Wedding

Winter is a magical time filled with wonderful holidays, snow and more. More and more couples are deciding on having winter weddings. But unlike weddings any other time of the year, there are a few things to consider before you start planning your winter wedding. Here are some things you should think about before setting a date:

Weather

Although a winter wonderland wedding sounds amazing to many, the weather isn’t always as nice as it is in Spring, Summer and Fall, which is the biggest thing you’ll have to consider. If you live in an area that sees harsh winters with snow storms and non-stop rainy days, you might have one on your wedding day and that can really ruin a bride’s special day. If you don’t mind the weather, it’s advisable that you get some type of wedding issuance just in case you need to cancel or postpone your wedding due to a big storm. Talk to all of your vendors if they offer this because you don’t want to get stuck with a huge bill for a wedding that didn’t happen because of blizzard. Have a backup plan, too just in case it rains or is foggy the day of your wedding. Get a venue inside and buy some massive umbrellas so that you don’t ruin your dress.

Venues

Although the weather is a downfall, one great thing about winter weddings is that you’ll get a huge discount on venues since many are open during this season. A lot of brides don’t want to chance it and venues are often scrambling for any business so they are more willing to give you huge discounts if you book them for a winter wedding. You’ll be able to afford that dream venue you’ve always wanted like a huge mansion or that unaffordable country club. Also, choose a venue where you can have the ceremony and the reception so that guests don’t have to drive somewhere else in potentially dangerous weather.

Decor

Another great thing about a winter wedding is that you can find lots of holiday decor for cheap and easily incorporate it it into your wedding. Why not take advantage of the festive season? You’ll be able to find lots of amazing bridesmaid dresses in the perfect shades of red and green. And since many venues are already decorated for the holidays, you’ll be able to save on decorations.

Attire

When planning a winter wedding, you’ll also have to plan your attire around the season. It’s cold during the winter, so strapless dresses for bridesmaids with open-toe shoes might not be so great. So it’s wise to pick things that go with the weather so that everyone can be comfortable during your winter wedding. Also, ask guests to dress warmly so that they come prepared.

A winter wedding can still be a beautiful and wonderful affair when you take all the aforementioned things into consideration!
