How To Choose The Perfect Florist For Your Wedding

Choosing your wedding flowers is totally different from getting flowers for your mom or any other special occasion. Picking wedding flowers requires special attention that requires a bit of research to find the perfect florist for your one special day. Flowers add a special pizazz to your wedding, so it’s important to choose the right flowers, color and arrangements to match every other detail of your wedding. Even if you’re not going all on tons of flowers, you’ll at least get your bridal bouquet, bouquets for your bridesmaids and boutonnieres for the groom and his groomsmen. Some people also want flower arrangement as their centerpieces for the reception tables, so here’s some helpful tips on finding the right florist to get the job done right.

Research Local Florists

Just as you would research the right venue and bakery, you should research florists in your area to find out which shops are the best at creating bridal flowers. Ask around for recommendation and see where any married friends got theirs from. Finally, when you narrow down your list to the top five, start interviewing professionals to compare styles, prices and personalities. But make sure you have an idea of what your wedding colors will be and have any pictures of flower arrangements that you like available to show them.

Be Prepared

Before you meet up with your top five florists, be prepared to show them not only your ideas, but your budget. It’s said that you should set aside 3% of your total wedding budget for your flowers and decor. And don’t worry about not having a lot to spend on flowers since you can ask the various florists to work within your budget. Also know how many pieces you’ll need for your wedding, including how many bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, etc. This will allow the florists to provide you with an exact estimate so that you can take home and crunch the numbers to see if it fits within your budget.

Things To Bring To Appointments

When you’re attending appointments with florists, make sure you bring your idea file with pictures of things  you like; a bridesmaid dress fabric swatch to help the florist suggest coordinating flowers that match; a photo of our wedding dress so that they can suggest bouquet styles that will complement your dress; and pictures of your ceremony and reception venues so that they can help you dream up your perfect decor! Always bring a list of questions so that you can get a sense of what they can do for you and your ideas. At the end of each meeting, get an estimate in writing based on what you’ve discussed for your wedding. At home, go over all your notes and choose the florist you like best.

Finalizing The Florist

Terrific Unique Destination Weddings For an Unforgettable Event

Styling and profiling

Styling and profiling!

So, pretty much every bride has heard of the concept of a destination wedding. It’s certainly not for everyone of course, and depends entirely on how fortunate you are when it comes to your budget, and ultimately upon the choice of you and your groom. For those that are unfamiliar with these fun and flirtatious weddings, a destination wedding is one that takes place at an exotic or popular location a good distance away from where you live. Some people choose Los Angeles or Niagara Falls or Banff for their destination wedding, but some choose still more exotic and faraway lands for their nuptials. If you’re looking for a truly interesting experience for your to-dos, here are some truly fantastic suggestions for your destination wedding.

Stonehenge

One of the most recognizable prehistoric artifacts of all time, Stonehenge could make for a wedding you and your guests will never forget. Stonehenge carries a sense of mystery, dignity, and beauty unique to its location that is one of the many reasons it makes such a special locale for a wedding. Entrenched with power and mystique, the air is charged with positive energy, perfect for the beginning of your union.

Cozumel

Okay, so it’s not the most outlandish of locations, but it’s not as cliched or common as Vegas or Paris for a destination wedding, either (not that those aren’t gorgeous places to be wed and wonderful cities to visit!). If you want a getaway wedding that’s well-known, but less prominent, and want it at a beach locale, think no further than Cozumel. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Mexico, if not the world over, and is chock-full of beautiful venue options and the friendliest people in the world to make your dreams come true.

Disneyland or Disney World

Again, not unheard of, but still a unique and rare enough opportunity, and I just couldn’t stop myself from including these magical places on the list! What better way is there to feel like a real, live fairy princess, like your love and marriage is as magical as you feel that it is? Disney is synonymous with childhood joy, but those happy feelings more often than not carry over into adulthood. I know it has for me, and for enough others that Disney has packages to choose from for the particular purpose of having your special day at one of their amusement parks.

Picking a venue for your wedding is a hard decision to make. It’s an enormous part of your budget and takes serious time and consideration before you find the right one, and that’s if they have something available for you when you want it. Still, though, shouldn’t your special day be all that you’ve ever dreamed it would be? Whether you want the magic and wonder of Disney or the Celtic tradition and splendor of Stonehenge, you’re a bride that knows what she wants, and you should definitely go for it. You know, after talking it over with your partner!

Tips For Choosing The Perfect Wedding Cake

There’s a lot that goes into wedding planning – the venue, bridal gown, centerpieces and, of course, the cake! You’re going to want to have a beautiful cake that looks good and tastes great! After all, you’ll be taking pictures next to your cake and your guests will be eager to taste it, so choosing the perfect wedding cake will take some serious thought. Here are a couple of tips to remember when choosing the perfect cake for you special day:

1. Choose a reputable baker or bakery

With so many options to choose from, it can be hard to settle on a bakery for your wedding cake. According to a She Knows article on the subject, it’s best to start your research online. Go on wedding forums, sites and the like to find out which local bakeries have the best reviews by other brides. Once you have a list, visit their website if applicate or other social media accounts to see their scope of work. Note if photos and information are current because you’ll want to choose a bakery that updates their portfolio regularly. Once you’ve narrowed down your top five choices, you should then physically visit the location and talk with the staff. Sit down with them and review your wedding cake design details. Make sure to take a list of questions so that you get all the answers you need to make an informed decision. At Best for Bride, we not only offer bridal gowns and accessories, but can also help you choose your perfect cake! View our cake services here!

2. Make sure you have enough time to choose the right wedding cake

Choosing a cake shouldn’t be an impulse buy or a last-minute decision. To ensure you get exactly what you want, give yourself three to six months to plan the cake of your dreams and pick the bakery. You don’t want to stress yourself out by waiting until the last two months to order your cake, which is usually a bride’s “crunch time.”

3. Do taste tests

After you choose a bakery, it’s time to choose the flavor(s) of your wedding cake. Schedule a cake tasting before you order the cake so that you know what to expect. And if you want a cake that has multiple flavors, make sure you taste them all. You’ll want to have a great-tasting cake for you big day that all your guests will love, so taking the time to taste everything is important.

4. Get creative with the cake’s design

Since you’ll be taking pictures with your cake on your wedding day, you’ll want your cake to stand out and be picture perfect! Many choose cake colors based on their wedding colors and the design is usually chosen after looking through bridal magazines, Pinterest and the bakery of choice’s portfolio. Adding embellishments is quite popular like diamonds and rubies, as well as bows and flowers. Cake toppers should also be unique and represent your individual style.
