My story starts at university where I met Jacinda. We both started a Bachelor of Education last year and we quickly became friends. After about six weeks I decided to ask her out so I prepared a birthday card for her on the back of a puzzle. Then I split the puzzle into 7 piles and put them in 7 envelopes. I gave one envelope to her each day during the week leading up to her birthday and then the day before her birthday I gave her one more envelope which had a letter in it. At the end of the letter I asked her to date me but she wasn't allowed to open the letter until I said. On her birthday I took her out to a nice park where I had prepared a picnic and I took her a particularly nice place at the park. Then I told her she could ope the letter and when she opened it she realized it was written on a picture of the exact scenery she was staring at. She said yes and we began dating.
After about 2 months I just knew that I wanted to marry her and once we had been dating for about 9 months I started planning the proposal. I decided to send her on a treasure hunt and I asked one of our friends to help me. I told Jacinda that we were going to go Kayaking that day so she had no idea I was going to propose until the night before when our friend (Jess) gave her a call. She told her that she was no longer seeing me and that I had organized the two of them to catch up. I had told Jess to tell Jacinda that she needed to wear her nice red dress and to meet her at lunch time the next day. When they met Jacinda was presented with a portable DVD player and the first of 6 DVD's. I had recorded messages for her explaining that she was on a treasure hunt and that she needed to go certain places and talk to certain people. The first place I sent her was to a home-ware shop and the sales assistant there gave her another DVD and a present which she found out was a vase. That DVD sent her to another home-ware place where she received the next DVD and pair of champaign glasses. That DVD sent her to a florist where she got a nice bunch of red and white flowers (red to match her dress and white to match my shirt). The DVD from the florist sent her to my friends letterbox where she got a small white tablecloth and that DVD sent her to a beauty therapist where she was a facial, a manicure, a pedicure and a massage and finally that DVD sent her to a park where I was waiting. I had set up a nice outdoor table with two chairs right next to a lake in a secluded area. I got down on one knee and popped the question and got the all important yes! Then we had a toast and after that we went out to a nice restaurant for dinner. |
