Nate and I have known each other since we were thirteen years old. We were always friends throughout middle school and high school, but things changed once we were seventeen. I had never considered dating Nate since he was a year younger than me, but I quickly found out how perfect we were for each other and how much of a balance he was in my life. We dated my junior and senior year of high school. After I graduated I went off to college at the University of South Dakota while he finished his senior year. After Nate graduated he went to college at the University of Moorhead in Minnesota and I was at the University of South Dakota. Even though we were 5 hours apart, our relationship lasted. After his freshman year Nate transferred to the University of South Dakota and we were finally together again.
On August 11th Nate and I went to Minneapolis Minnesota for a weekend away. We had done it the last 4 years so nothing seemed suspicious to me. That day we went to Valleyfair. While we were there Nate asked me to get a character drawing with him so we could frame it and have it as a keepsake once we were older. So we sat down and let a man draw us for about 20 minutes. Once the man drawing us was done he told us that he just had a couple finishing touches to make but he wanted us to see if first. When he turned the drawing towards us to see it had Nate's character with a speech bubble that said "will you marry me" and my character had an empty speech bubble. Once I finally realized what the drawing was asking I looked at Nate and he was down on one knee. He told me that I was his best friend and that the past four years had been the best of his life. He then asked me if I could make the rest of his life as great as the last four years had been. I was so surprised and happy... and I obviously said YES! It was the perfect proposal with the perfect guy. Nate's family was not only able to capture the moment with pictures, but I also have the character drawing framed and hanging in my room as a constant reminder of what an amazing day it was. |
