On the evening of December 30th, I just walked in the door from taking my sister home.
I noticed there were balloons everywhere and a knife and a notebook open on the counter. My boyfriend, Jeff, was sitting at his computer playing a game. The message on the notebook looked like a game of "Hang Man". There was 2 words, one with 7 letters, one with 4 letters. I grabbed the knife, and started popping the balloons! In each balloon was a phrase that had pertained to our relationship. For example, the place where we first met, first movie we watched together etc. Each phrase had a letter underlined, I was to use these letters to unscramble the two words. Im not the best with word puzzles, but I finally got it! It read "Dexter's Spot". Dexter is one of cats, and I knew his favourite spot was in the bathtub. I rushed up stairs, and pulled back the curtain. There was a heart shaped balloon taped to the wall. I popped it, and the note inside read "Will you...... find Number one?" When I read the words "Number One" I knew he meant his Riker figurine. Riker was Captain Picard's "Number One" on Star Trek the Next Generation, one of our favorite shows. When I couldn't find him up stairs, I went back down stairs. Sitting on our coffee table was a big box with the words "USS Enterprise" written on the outside. I opened the lid, and there was Riker sitting with a ring box beside him. I opened the box, and there was the most beautiful ring with the words "Will you be my number one"? Our wedding is November 2 2013 |
