The engagement happened on October 7th, 2014. That night, Adrian told Nadia that they will be going to Adrian's sisters house for dinner. It was a regular rainy Tuesday night, so Nadia had no idea that a proposal awaited. On the way to "the sisters house", Adrian told Nadia we have to stop by Nadia's brother to pick up something for Adrian's grandfather. As we got to Nadia's brothers house, Nadia runs to the front door as it was pouring rain. Adrian yelled at Nadia saying, we have to go the back. Nadia was like "why!, it's pouring what are we going to do in the backyard". Adrian stated "Your brother is cooking curry". For some reason, Nadia believed it. They ran to the backyard in the pouring rain, and as we walked into the back, Nadia see a bunch of Mason jars with LED lights set up under a gazebo. All of a sudden, the song "Just you and I" by Ricky Blaze (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dr4n5YbqBnw) starts playing in the background. Nadia walks towards to the table and looks at Adrian all puzzled. Nadia then looks off into the kitchen through the doors to see all of her friends, brother, sister in law and nephew gazing through the doors with big smiles on their faces; Nadia knew a proposal was happening. Adrian told Nadia to open each jar and read the messages on the back of the laminated pictures. There were 8 jars. Nadia opened them and each picture had a message that was written by Adrian talking about since the first time they met. The final picture was a picture of a restaurant that Adrian took Nadia's parents, brother, sister-in-law and nephew to ask for their blessings to ask for Nadia's hand in marriage.
After all the messages were read from each picture, Adrian then had a few words to tell Nadia. Of course, being so tech savy, Adrian read the message off of his iPhone. One statement that stood out of them all, is that Adrian believed that him and Nadia have spent past lives together. Adrian then got on one knee and asked Nadia to be his wife. After moments of tears and laughter, Nadia and Adrian went into the house to meet everyone and get lots of hugs. Adrian set up a photographer and videographer to capture the whole thing. It was amazing. As we are all sitting in the kitchen, some of the friends suggested for us to go grab a bite to eat. Everyone agreed. We all headed to Waterfront Bistro in Pickering. As Nadia is walking into the restaurant, a crowd of family and friends yelled surprise! Adrian had planned a PART TWO to the engagement. He proposed and planned a get together with everyone to share in our auspicious occasion all in one night. Nadia was in shock as she saw her parents, Adrian's parents, all of their cousins and friends waiting to celebrate in their Engagement at the restaurant. All night, Nadia did not say much (and Nadia is definitely a talker). She was in shock all night, trying to comprehend what had just happened. Adrian did a marvelous planning a beautiful proposal. After the proposal, Adrian and Nadia sat down and chatted. Adrian then confessed how long the proposal had been in the works. Adrian had asked a few of Nadia's friends to help him plan it. Adrian and Nadia's friends went searching for the perfect place and props to include in the proposal. Adrian and the friends spent a few nights preparing for the engagement. Initially, Adrian wanted to have the proposal at a secluded area at the beach, but due to the weather, he was not able to do it there. At the end of it all, it turned out to be a magical, spontaneous and well thought out proposal. Nadia could not have wanted any more than that. Hopefully our story will inspire others. |
