The back story:
We have known each other for roughly 4 years, and shared friends for even longer than that. When we met, we were with other people. A little over a year later, we were both helping some friends move in together, along with the rest of our group of friends (we're all very close). At the time we were helping our friends move in together, he and I had just gone through our very own tough break-ups from the 7 year relationships we had both just been in. Our friends couldn't help but point this fact out to each of us throughout the day. One by one, people would make comments to me, "Funny how you and Gordon are so similar and are both going through break-ups at the same time." By the end of that day, we were all enjoying our moving help payments of pizza and beer, while Gordon and I couldn't help noticing each other across the room. Throughout the next year and a half, we managed to realize the attraction we had for each other was more than just something small, and it was scary....especially after the bad experiences we had just left. So, we managed to date people we knew were wrong for us in order to keep distance between us until the thought of being with someone you couldn't help but just know was perfect for you, wasn't so scary anymore. Eventually, last year the day after my 29th birthday party, we decided to stop fighting it and take that chance of being together. We've been completely inseparable since then. Fast forward to today: This year on my 30th birthday, Gordon told me he had surprise plans for my birthday. He hinted at dinner and a movie. I figured this was just to throw me off, because I'm usually really good at playing detective. We arrived at Big Picture (an independent theater downtown Seattle that serves cocktails along with the usual movie treats) around 5pm on Wednesday. So, I didn't think much of the fact that we were the only ones there until the movie screen came on. I mentioned to Gordon how crazy it was that we were the only one's there, but still thought it had to do with it being early and in the middle of the week. Then, the movie started, and it was Gordon on the screen.... Come to find out, he had rented the place out and got them to play his video. So, here's how he proposed I said YES!!! Thank you for listening and viewing our story! I hope we win. Courtney Havre |
