We met in 2008 through an online dating website called e-harmony, I'm sure you've seen a few of their cheesy ads on television, but for us e-harmony really worked so we really can't make too much fun of their commercials. Although we don't walk, laugh, hop and skip in slow motion, we do enjoy a lot of the same activities, and most importantly we love and support each other unconditionally. Anyone who knows us personally, knows we are a silly, special pair and are probably not shocked seeing us entered in this contest.
Mike proposed to me in mid-November of this year. It was a touching, and beautiful moment.. I just wish I could have seen it. Let me go back a bit and explain... We went out for our 2 year anniversary to a Leafs game (which they won 5-4, Wahoo!!!) and to dinner and when we got home it was late so I started getting ready for bed. I took out my contact lenses and started taking off my makeup. I called to Mike and asked him to check to see if we had any extra bottles of contact lens solution kicking around because we were pretty much out at that point. I could hear him rustling around in the hall closet and after a couple seconds replied: "Nope, we are all out....wait a minute ....OH WAIT ...No.. we will have to pick up some more ....Uhhh Jess...what is this?!" So I went out into the hallway and Mike was kneeling on the ground, holding my ring ... . but I couldn't see a darn thing so I had no idea what was happening. So I stood there, squinted at him and replied "What's what?" There was a moment of awkward silence, he chuckled and stood up, presenting the ring box again me to, but this time just inches from my face. I squinted and could make out this blurry but beautiful diamond ring and I was in shock! "Is this really happening?!!?!" I said over and over again. He laughed and got back down on his knee and told me how much he loved me and asked me if I would marry him. I was still in shock and all I could say, again, was ... "is this really happening?" He gave me a few moments, and then chimed in with "So.... are you going to say yes?" and of course I meant to say yes!, and did say yes upon him asking ...again, I just was so shocked in the moment that I forgot that 'YES' is kind of an important part of the whole process! So with our wedding on the horizon we're on another exciting journey, not that everyday isn't a great journey in itself. There is just something so special about planning the day you get to celebrate your love for one another with friends and family. |
